Superb Logistics is a container haulage company located in Port Klang. It started as a forwarding company some half a century ago. “My grandfather (Tan Yong Keng) founded the company about 50 years ago. We only dealt with forwarding then. 15 years ago, My father (Tan Wei Chei) saw that there was an increasing demand for haulage services and decided to try it out to see if it was viable” said Sean Tan, Director at Superb Logistics.
The company recently added two Hammar 195S sideloaders to their fleet. The handover ceremony was held on the 15th of October 2019. The addition marks a new chapter for the company as they anticipate bigger market potential next year. This is the first time they are trying out sideloaders from Hammar upon recommendation from fellow industry friends.
“We have used sideloaders in our operations before but never from Hammar. Our friend recommended us Hammar sideloaders saying they were lesser prone to breakdowns so we decided to try them out for ourselves. So far, we are very satisfied with our purchase. Hammar sent someone to conduct training with our drivers, and the drivers remarked that the sideloaders were very easy to use” added Wesley Tan, Director at Superb Logistics.
The company has a fleet of 50 prime movers, 253 trailers and six sideloaders. Sean added that the purchase of the two sideloaders were a proper investment for the company. “It is a competitive industry. To remain competitive and relevant, we have to provide good service along with a reasonable price. Although these sideloaders do not come cheap, I believe these investments are necessary to ensure we have a more competitive edge compared to other hauliers.”
On why they opted for that specific model, Sean said that they usually carry fresh produce and general cargo; not extremely heavy items. “The 195S is one of Hammar’s newest and most popular sideloader. With a lifting capacity of 36 tonnes safe working load, it is the most suitable choice for us.”
The company will be moving to a bigger space in Q1 next year. The new place in Telok Gong will boast six acres of land, up from its current two acres. The three brothers including Chris Tan are excited for the future of the company as they bring the company to greater heights.
