Logistics and warehousing is one of the key markets in Malaysia. Being a hub in the region, with easily accessible ports and superb infrastructure, the country is a major player in ASEAN. The LogisWare 2016 exhibition showcased the full spectrum of logistics and warehousing products, technology and solutions. It was also involving local and international participants to boost the industry into the next level.
Continental announced the launch of a tire information and management system for commercial fleets. The new offer, called “ContiConnect” monitors, analyzes and reports tire pressure and temperature for the entire fleet based on data collected by the proven ContiPressureCheck sensors. ContiConnect notifies the fleet manager and offers corrective measures if needed, for instance through a Conti360° service partner. An online portal provides transparent reports on the fleet’s tire performance and overall efficiency. With its launch in Q2 2017, ContiConnect will be available in key markets in Asia Pacific, Europe and The Americas.
Trade-related freight transport is expected to grow by a factor of 4.3 between 2010 and 2050, but addressing climate change requires that it become more energy efficient, an UNCTAD official said, outlining a series of solutions ahead of an UNCTAD meeting at COP 22 on freight efficiency early November.
For Kedah-based rice miller, Kilang Beras Seri Merbok Sdn Bhd, the problem was slowly but surely spiralling out of control. Its fleet of forklifts was breaking down way too often, causing significant downtime and disrupting production. The reason was over-heating engines due to prolonged idling during operating hours. The downtime and repairs were getting costly and exacting a heavy toll on their finances.
Commercial vehicle manufacturers always place high demands on the robust product quality of air cleaners for the Asian market. Pressure to lengthen the service intervals under high-dust operating conditions is also increasing. MANN+HUMMEL has developed two new air cleaners for this purpose. Both concepts are freely available on the market and are not subject to exclusive rights.
Sin Hock Soon takes Shell FuelSave Diesel for a test drive. It delivered. Since young, Tony Yew has been ambitious. Although there have been no “leaked” images of the new Scania, there has been a lot of excitement and interest build up for the launch of the Next Generation Scania. Asian Trucker went to the IAA in Hannover and Scania’s headquarter to learn more about this vehicle and the package around it.
Here is the good news: the new Scania was worth the wait. And the bad: It won’t be available in South East Asia for some time as the Swedish brand is currently busy rolling the truck, and equally important services and applications, out in Europe. Asian Trucker secured an exclusive slot to drive the truck and to get updates from Scania’s management on their strategies and future plans.
This European truck manufacturer remains competitive with all new features for their trucks and a online backend that is to assist fleet operators to be more efficient. This man of MAN Malaysia is no longer someone new to Asian Trucker readers; he is someone that has been with MAN for almost 15 years now: Mr Hartmut Müller, Managing Director of MAN Truck and Bus (M) Sdn Bhd. We interviewed him at IAA 2016, where he was joined by clients from Malaysia.
By now one should be used to Lamilux being a powerhouse of innovations. Again, at the IAA 2016, the company comes through with the presentation of new solutions, coupled with staff driven to go the extra mile.
Presenting a revolutionary Zero Impact study at this year’s IAA, Iveco also looked back at a highly successful year. Confidence boosts came from orders for the new Stralis and Trakker from high profile customers that have been testing the vehicles over the past month.
While the resume that Hyva draws could be as simplistic as our headline, there is more to the success of their participation at IAA 2016. We met with the South East Asian Team at their booths.
One thing visitors notice is that there are a lot of Hyva staff at the booth. And for a very good reason. Customers from all over the world flock to the stand, wanting to discuss things at the IAA while meeting with the people responsible for their respective markets. With close to 75% of exhibitors needing hydraulic cylinders at the IAA using Hyva, there is a lot of pride to be felt too.
