With safety in mind, Briliant Decade is boldly stepping ahead

Spurred by country's grows, Transporter is expanding in the fast growing market.

Mr. Anndrew MLH, Transport Manager from Briliant Decade Transport Agency Sdn. Bhd is pleased to share insights about Brilliant Decade. Working for almost five years with Briliant Decade has made him one of the leaders of the company.

Strong History
Hiap Teck Venture Berhad (HTVB) is a dynamic and leading steel company in Malaysia. Incorporated in 1993, it is a public listed company on the Malaysia Stock Exchange and is ranked among the top tier Malaysian steel companies. It has an outstanding track record and revenue exceeding the billion Ringgit mark.
Through its successful wholly-owned subsidiaries, HTVB hold nineteen years of extensive steel industry experience, offering steel product solutions for steel application to a diverse customer base both domestic and international in multiple sectors such as building construction, manufacturing, engineering and oil and gas. We are taking a closer look at one of its subsidiaries, Brilliant Decade.

Established in 1993, Briliant Decade Transport Agency Sdn Bhd now owns a total of 30 units of trucks ranging from 6 tonnes to 20 tonnes. Out of these, 27 units of the fleet are equipped with GPS tracking & monitoring systems. Briliant Decade is constantly upgrading its fleet to keep pace with the rising needs in transportation. This ever-improving company attributes its growth and success to its dedicated and experienced work force of 38 staffs.
Mostly, Briliant Decade is focused on the internal delivery. The company prioritises own goods and their main area of operation is the Klang Valley. Typical goods transported include steel, pipes and others. The company uses a mix of several truck brands. Older trucks are Nissan, Hino, Izusu and Scania while their new trucks are Sinotruk and Auman.
“In my opinion, the Chinese truck brands entering the market now perform quite well. Therefore, they are expanding to meet the market need” said Mr Anndrew.

Safety First
Been asked about which safety aspects concern the company the most, he responded, “I take the overloading issue seriously. In Briliant Decade we strictly follow the limit because we need to look out for the driver’s safety and as well as the truck conditions. Overloading will bring nothing other than damages, to material and potentially to people”.
As a manifestation of this approach, every month Mr Anndrew will have a random spot check on the drivers. “I practice this method because I want the drivers to come to work in a healthy condition. Sometimes these drivers do not feel well but they tend to continue working. When this happens, I will ask them to go the hospital or to have a rest,” he said. In addition, the company will send the drivers to the training when the need arises.

Briliant Decade Future
Brilliant Decade is concentrating on the internal deliveries. Sometimes the company accepts requests from other companies, however, the outsourcing of services is not their priority. In the future, they are considering to provide external delivery and to extend the delivery coverage beyond the Klang Valley. This will certainly require them to add more trucks to the fleet.
