Another handover ceremony of Scania trucks before the year ends. SMG has added new Scania trucks to SMGs fleet as part of its expansion to cater for the increase in the haulage and loader business.

SMG’s first two Scania trucks were purchased in the year 2014. As the business volume seemed to increase, SMG decided to purchase another two of the Scania P410LA6X2MSZ and they was handed to the Managing Director of SMG, Mr Kanapathy Raman Satish by the Sales Director for Scania Southest Asia, Tuan Haji Idros Puteh on the 7th of October.

“What we do is we transport import and export containers. Therefore most of our customers are shippers directly or come from forwading companies. Our job is just to deliver their containers back and forth from the port to the destination,” briefed Mr Satish.

The new trucks come with Opticruise main feature, which is the best in class optimal gear change, giving drivers more and better attention spent on maneuvering the trucks while reducing fuel consumption, cluth and synchromesh wear.

“During the early days of our business, we only purchased imported reconditioned trucks which are not feasible to operate in the long run. Hence, buying in total four of Scania trucks is our strategy to improve the business and also to get rid of all the old trucks. Based on the experience from our first purchase (2014), we are very satisfied with the trucks’ performance and the support from the Scania team. Every three month, Scania team will come and visit our area just to check on the trucks, give fast feedback if we have any questions and most importantly, with their support, I don’t have to worry about my trucks and can just focus on running the business,” he added.

The acquisition of the new trucks also come with the two years free Scania Maintenance package, two years of free 24/7 Scania Assistance and a ten years free Fleet Management System (FMS). Apart from that, SMG secured these trucks via the Scania Credit facility together with insurance coverage. Not just that, repair and maintenance contracts were signed for all with a positive view on the Scania Driver Services and Fleet Management System.
