Busworld Europe 2025 Heats up with Premieres

With six months to go before Busworld Europe 2025 opens its doors in Brussels, early announcements from exhibitors are already sparking anticipation. Bus manufacturers and component suppliers alike are preparing to unveil their latest innovations, ranging from electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles to next-gen drivetrains and telematics. Once again, the show is shaping up to be a comprehensive preview of the industry's future.
New Vehicle Launches: Electric, Hydrogen and Long-range
MAN Truck & Bus is doubling down on its e-mobility roadmap with two major premieres at Busworld Europe:
- The MAN eCoach will mark the company’s first fully electric touring coach, designed as a zero emission alternative to the Lion’s Coach. It will offer a range of up to 500 km and space for 50+ passengers, built on MAN's proven eTruck battery packs and long-distance architecture.
- Also making its debut is the second generation of the MAN Lion’s City 12 E, a fully electric city bus now 500 kg lighter than the previous model. With an enhanced driveline, optimized regeneration and a range of up to 500 km, it is designed for heavy-duty urban routes without mid-day charging. Updates include a revamped driver's area and a new infotainment system.
Solaris Bus & Coach will unveil the Urbino 12 Hydrogen 2.0, the second generation of its hydrogen bus. This new model features a lighter frame, a more compact and efficient fuel cell system, and enhanced battery capacity. The vehicle is tailored for zero emission urban routes with extended range requirements — up to 700 km on a single fill.
VDL Bus & Coach is expected to launch a new generation of its Citea electric platform, focusing on higher battery efficiency, reduced vehicle weight and fully modular architecture for both city and regional use.
Irizar e-mobility will showcase a redesigned ie tram, offering better accessibility, an upgraded interior, and a new rapid-charging system that cuts charging times by up to 30 percent.
BYD has announced the European debut of a new electric city bus featuring solid-state battery technology, aimed at boosting energy density and thermal stability.
VinFast, Vietnam’s emerging e-mobility powerhouse, will make its European debut at Busworld Europe — the first Vietnamese brand to ever exhibit at the event. VinFast will showcase a 12-metre electric city bus, already in service in Vietnam, with a range of 300–350 km, developed in collaboration with Pininfarina and powered by Siemens technology. The brand emphasises full vertical integration, from battery manufacturing to final assembly, and aims to enter five EU markets by 2026.
Alfabus, a Chinese OEM, will present two electric bus models (12m and 18m) built specifically for the European market with full EU type approval. This marks the brand’s renewed attempt to enter Europe via Busworld.
UNVI, the Spanish manufacturer, is launching the SIL Electric, a low-entry coach for regular regional services. With seating for up to 59 passengers and a range of 400 km, it targets operators in need of middle to long-distance flexibility.
Suppliers Push Integration and Smart Maintenance
ZF will present the latest evolution of its integrated electric axle, combining motor, inverter and transmission into a single, compact unit to simplify installation and servicing.
Voith will expand its eDrive portfolio with a solution tailored to electric long-distance coaches. The company will also introduce new hydrogen components in line with its multi-energy strategy.
ACTIA Group will present an updated telematics suite for predictive maintenance, enabling mixed fleet operators to track performance, diagnose faults and schedule servicing before failures occur.
Looking Ahead: More Launches to Come
While many manufacturers keep their cards quite close until the final weeks before the event, the momentum is already building. From battery and hydrogen advances to long-distance e-mobility and software-driven fleet intelligence, Busworld Europe 2025 promises to be more than a trade fair — it will be a live demonstration of what the industry is capable of.
