AAG climbs to new heights in 2024

Industry players from the aftermarket gathered in Guangzhou for Auto Aftermarket Guangzhou (AAG) 2024, an exhibition showcasing a comprehensive range of core products across six halls. This included parts and components, accessories and customising, driving services, oils, lubricants, fuels, tyres, wheels, and diagnostic and repair tools. The coverage offered a comprehensive overview of the latest technological advancements and product innovations in the aftermarket. With wider involvement from the global automotive industry, AAG achieved remarkable results to solidify its position as an annual platform for sharing innovative ideas, exchanging information, and exploring cooperation opportunities.

This year, AAG brought together industry peers from the automotive aftermarket, providing a platform for exhibitors to showcase their latest technologies and products, while facilitating exchanges and discuss industry trends. Mr Xia Wendi, Chairman of China National Machinery Industry International Co Ltd (SINOMACHINT), stated: “AAG has a role to strengthen South China’s automotive industry, and contribute to the economic growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. From this standpoint, the show demonstrated its growing influence by attracting exhibitors, buyers, and industry experts from all over the world to Guangzhou. It supported cooperation opportunities for companies within the Greater Bay Area and injected new vitality into regional industry development.”

Driven by rapid industry growth and increasing global trade activities, this year’s AAG witnessed a record-breaking number of visitor participation. Representatives from overseas countries and regions included ASEAN, Asia Pacific, MENA and more.

Ms Fiona Chiew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, commented: “This edition of AAG saw an impressive surge in scale, exhibitor and visitor numbers. Highlights from Parts & Components

The Parts & Components sector, located in Halls 1, 3, 5, and 6, focused on cutting-edge driving system technologies, innovative breakthroughs in chassis technology, and high-precision manufacturing processes for standard parts. Additionally, the show introduced numerous special product areas. Exhibitors and visitors alike noted that these specific areas fostered efficient communication among enterprises and facilitated rapid development and transformation of the industry.

During the exhibition, we received purchase enquiries from buyers across various countries and regions, including some long-term partners. Ms Zhuoran Mahui, Marketing Manager of Shenzhen Shentou Supply Chain Management Co Ltd, commented: “Participating in AAG was a valuable market exploration for us. Mr Andy Wang, Sales Manager of Overseas Marketing at Fuxin Dare Automotive Parts Co Ltd, remarked: “For our first time at AAG, we brought products such as our electro-hydraulic power steering pump and transmission oil pump. We have connected with many potential customers, as well as industry peers. We were very satisfied with the number and quality of visitors to promote our products and brand. With new energy vehicles as the main focus in the industry, we aim to capture more market shares in South China with the help of AAG in the future.”

Highlights from Accessories & Customising and Driving Services
As a highlight of this exhibition, the Accessories & Customising and Driving Services sectors, located in Halls 2 and 4, housed well-known brands that amplified automotive culture and vehicle modifications. These sectors not only focused on the customisation of interior and exterior parts but also delved into the potential of power systems, introducing a series of car wraps and other accessories to meet diversifying demands.

Mr Kai Qian, Sales Manager of Changzhou Yuhang Automotive Trim Co Ltd, mentioned: “The nature of modifications and automotive culture was in full force at AAG. Our personalised automotive trims attracted a large number of enthusiasts, with each product receiving active responses. Through in-depth discussions with buyers and end users, we gained valuable insights into the market demand and consumer preferences, which provided guidance on our future research and development.”

Mr Guochao Zhang, General Manager of Puyang Xinye Special Lubricant and Grease Co Ltd, stated: “At AAG, we could feel the vibrancy of the modification and driving services markets. Our high-quality lubricant products won the favour of many professional stores. During the exhibition, we established several potential partnerships. This experience has undoubtedly spurred on the development of our brand.”

Mr Chenhui Hu, Channel Manager of Goodyear Car Accessories at Shenzhen Intra Brands Co Ltd, remarked: “This is our first time at AAG, and we showcased our latest batteries and lubricants from Goodyear. The event allowed us to introduce our new products to the Greater Bay Area and wider South China region. With the growing penetration rate of new energy vehicles, we are presenting new projects in line with the industry trends, covering both fuel and new energy vehicles. We received many enquiries from customers and are very satisfied with the results.”

Buyer feedback
This year, AAG attracted a record-breaking 42,622 visitors, marking a 36 percent increase from the previous edition. Meanwhile, the international influence of AAG significantly expanded, with visitors travelling from 80 countries and regions.

A purchasing representative from Guangzhou Nidec Auto Drive System Co Ltd stated: “I attend AAG every year to find new suppliers and products. I have found this year’s event to be particularly fruitful. I discovered numerous high-quality, cost-effective automotive parts and also connected with several suppliers of automotive accessories. These new products and technologies will give my store a significant competitive edge. I look forward to establishing long-term partnerships with these suppliers.”

A purchasing representative from Yutong Bus Co Ltd, remarked: “AAG is a platform with rich information and resources. Here, I can connect with numerous automotive parts and accessories suppliers all at once, significantly reducing procurement time and costs. I am particularly interested in companies making innovative breakthroughs in intelligent driving and new energy. Their products and technologies offer a glimpse into the future of the automotive industry. I believe that collaborating with these companies will bring more market opportunities to our company.”

Ms Saranporn Suchaiporn, Director of VPS Equipment Co Ltd, one overseas buyer from Thailand, commented: “AAG is an ideal platform for us to identify specific products that meet our current needs, allowing us to streamline our purchasing process and improve inventory management. The show has been highly beneficial, not only enhanced my understanding of the current landscape but also opened doors for strategic partnerships and informed our procurement strategy.”

During the three-day event, 30 engaging conferences were held. These events delved into the latest industry hotspots, from the potential of intelligent connectivity, transformation and upgrading of commercial vehicles, to globalisation and overseas market development strategies. Every topic resonated with exhibitors, buyers, and stakeholders in the automotive industry chain, sparking extensive discussions and reflections among attendees. These concurrent activities explored the potential of innovations within the traditional automotive supply chain while examining the latest trends in emerging fields.
