Association of Malaysian Hauliers to Protest Against DGC Price Increase

The Association of Malaysian Hauliers to Protest Against DGC Price Increase has announced that members are to protest against a price increase for depot services. The press release reads as follows, here reproduced without amendments:

"ASSOCIATION PROTEST TO THE ICS DEPOT SERVICES SDN. BHD. DGC PRICE INCREASE FROM 1ST SEPTEMBER 2021 UNTIL 7TH SEPTEMBER 2021

The members Association of Malaysian Hauliers has recently faced unprecedented hike in depot charges as a result of the increase in the service charges imposed by certain depot operators. The increase in charges had caused a huge impact on our members. At this moment our members are forced to consume the costs and restructure our activities and in the near
short term are forced to transfer the costs to our customers, as our members are unable to absorb the increase especially during this period of Covid-19 Pandemic.

The snowball effect of the increase in charges would definitely render Malaysia as an unattractive business environment.

We vehemently protest to the increase in the charges by the depot operators effective 1st September 2021 and it has received a lot of disagreement and disappointment among the association members. As to voice our disappointment our members have with one voice agreed to stage a protest and not submit to the pressure of the depot operator namely
ICS.

At the same time, we have engaged our solicitors to take the appropriate action and advise us the next course of action not limited to lodging complaints with the Authorities.
The Association is ready to explore and engage with the relevant parties to achieve an amicable solution.

President
Association of Malaysian Hauliers
25th August 2021"
