Angka-Tan Motor  Sdn Bhd (ATM), sole distributor of Foton Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), Foton Auman and JMC vehicles in Malaysia, moves to revolutionise the domestic logistics landscape with the official launch of three new trucks covering various light commercial applications at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2024 today.

Leading the line of new products is the 2024 Foton eAumark, the first pure-electric light-duty truck to be officially retailed in Malaysia. The Foton eAumark BJ1045EVJAR3 electric truck embodies and delivers all of the key qualities that help define the Foton Aumark as one of the most trusted light-duty trucks in the commercial vehicle market today, with the added benefit of pure electric propulsion for cleaner and more sustainable performance.

ATM is a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, a member of the Tan Chong Group is committed to fulfilling its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals in line with the national shift towards green mobility targeting zero emissions by 2050. The launch of the Foton eAumark echoes the Group’s commitment, with the potential to greatly reduce carbon footprints of light commercial vehicles that make up a significant portion of logistics fleets in the country. 

The Foton eAumark measures 5 960mm long, 2 000mm wide and 2 210mm tall. It comes in a single 3 360-mm wheelbase, with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) ranging from 4 250kg to 6 000kg. Powering the Foton eAumark is a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that develops 115kW and over 900Nm of torque. Featuring an 81.14kWh iron-phosphate battery from renowned EV battery supplier CATL, the eAumark has a WLTP-rated range of up to 200km.

The pure electric powertrain is engineered to withstand extreme weather conditions such as the tropical climate of Malaysia, with the battery being certified for IP67 water and dust resistance in addition to high-temperature resistance as verified by its 600°C ignition point. It also supplies 10kW of power to an ePTO port to which external equipment or special structures can be attached.

The Foton eAumark is equipped with LED headlights and ADAS capabilities for maximum safety on the move. It features a spacious cabin measuring 1,880mm wide for optimum comfort. An electronic power steering (EPS), knob type gear selector and LCD instrument cluster that clearly presents all vital vehicle info including battery level and range ensure user-friendliness in the cockpit. There is even a high-efficiency energy saving air conditioning system in place to complement the sustainable qualities of the pure-electric powertrain.

The Foton eAumark is the ideal light-duty truck for local businesses across all industries that are intent on reducing the carbon footprint on the road. Every eAumark sold comes with a complimentary 22kW AC Wallbox Charger, allowing for the truck to be kept fully charged when off duty. In addition to the AC Charger, owners can leverage on DC charging facilities that are made available in the rapidly growing charging network in Malaysia. The eAumark can recharge from 20 percent SoC to 100 percent in just one hour, using the DC charger.

As the growing needs of the Malaysian logistics sector take centre stage at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2024, ATM acknowledges the continued importance of conventionally-powered commercial vehicles for the industry. Launched in tandem with the Foton eAumark is the 2024 Foton Aumark S Euro 4, which builds on the proven formula of safety, utility, power, efficiency and reliability of the Aumark S nameplate with improved emission outputs to comply with the Euro 4 emission standards mandated by the Malaysian government.

The Foton Aumark S Euro 4 is offered in four- and six-wheel configurations. The Aumark S BJ1065 Euro 4 4-wheeler features can be configured with a wheelbase of 2,800mm or 3,360mm and continues to be powered by the proven Cummins ISF 2.8-litre engine coupled with a five-speed manual transmission by ZF. Meanwhile, the Aumark S BJ 1088 Euro 4 6-wheeler features a larger 3.8-litre engine and a six-speed ZF gearbox. Both powertrains have been updated to meet Euro 4 and B20 biodiesel compatibility for improved operational efficiency.

Alongside the all-new Foton eAumark, the Aumark S Euro 4 upholds the promise of reliable performance synonymous with the Aumark nameplate. A product of the “Super Truck Global Innovation Alliance”, the Foton Aumark was developed through 1.6 million kilometres of real-world tests across varying surface, weather and altitude conditions. The Foton Aumark has forged a reputation as a highly dependable and popular truck across the globe, with more than 4 million units produced and sold worldwide since 2003.

Joining the Foton eAumark and Aumark S Euro 4 is a new offering in the light pickup truck segment under the JMC brand, which is also distributed by ATM. The 2024 Euro 4 JMC Vigus Pro White Series 4x2 is the latest variant to join the JMC Vigus Pro product range in Malaysia. It becomes the most affordable model in the range alongside the JMC Vigus Pro White Series 4x4 and range-topping JMC Vigus Pro Premium Series 4x4. Of the three variants on offer, the new Vigus Pro White Series 4x2 is the sole variant equipped with a 4x2 Drive System, making it an ideal urban workhorse for start-ups and SMEs.

Like all variants across the JMC Vigus Pro catalogue, the White Series 4x2 is powered by the iconic 2.0-litre Puma four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The Ford-developed unit is paired to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission featuring an electronic gear selector and paddle shifters that facilitate a smooth and engaging driving experience. The Vigus Pro White Series 4x2 Euro 4 offers modern amenities such as an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system and rain-sensing wipers while excelling as a high-utility workhorse with a truck bed that can carry up to 950kg of cargo.

The pure-electric Foton eAumark BJ1045EVJAR3 retails for a introductory price of RM238 000. Every eAumark truck is backed by a factory warranty covering the cabin and chassis for up to three years or 100 000km, whichever comes first. Additionally, the drive motor, 81.14kWh battery and controller are covered by a five-year warranty, capped at 200 000km.
