MAN Truck & Bus is strengthening its presence in Niepołomice under the MAN2030+ programme. The plant has expanded its production scope and will receive close to PLN 1.9 billion in new investment. In future, driver cabs and related equipment will be produced in Poland. The development programme is expected to generate up to 400 new jobs.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak Kamysz, recently visited the MAN plant. During the visit, MAN Truck & Bus CEO Alexander Vlaskamp remarked that the investment supports stronger competitiveness and ties with Poland, noting that Poland is an important element of MAN’s industrial identity.

The MAN2030+ strategy sets clear milestones for product and industrial transformation. By the end of 2030, the Niepołomice plant is scheduled to receive more than PLN 1.9 billion in investment to prepare for new truck generations based on the TRATON Modular System. The project will create roughly 400 additional positions. Discussions around the investment have also involved the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Władysław Kosiniak Kamysz, who formally acknowledged the Polish government’s readiness to support the initiative. Talks included the Minister of Finance and the Minister of National Defence, who also addressed industrial cooperation for defence applications.

Alexander Vlaskamp emphasised that MAN is accelerating implementation of MAN2030+. According to him, the upgraded role of Niepołomice will enhance competitiveness and allow for rapid industrial start-up once the new trucks reach market introduction. He stressed that regulatory frameworks must align to enable swift execution.

Poland plays a strategic role in MAN’s European footprint. MAN supplies more than 8,000 vehicles to Polish customers each year and employs around 7,000 people in the country. Annual turnover approaches EUR 700 million. The company operates two production plants: Niepołomice for trucks and Starachowice for buses. Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, part of the Volkswagen Group’s commercial vehicle activities, builds TGE vans on MAN platforms in Poznań. A national network of nearly 40 sales and service centres supports both commercial and public sector clients, including emergency services. MAN has served the Polish Armed Forces for two decades and is currently fulfilling an order for 60 TGM 4x2 logistics vehicles with bodies from Polish supplier ELBO. The company has established know-how in specialised vehicles and cooperates with nearly 60 body builders to deliver integrated transport solutions developed in Poland.

In the coming years, Niepołomice will take on production of driver cabs for the new TRATON Modular System trucks, along with an on-site paint shop. Infrastructure for cab equipment, structural supply and cross functional operations will be expanded. Niepołomice will evolve into a full truck production site, spanning body production, painting and final assembly. Engines, batteries and drive axles will continue to be supplied externally.

Between 2020 and 2022, MAN invested nearly EUR 200 million into the Niepołomice plant, which employs roughly 3,500 people. The site functions as MAN’s global truck factory with a capacity of approximately 300 trucks per day, the highest output of any truck plant in Europe.

Until the TRATON Modular System trucks enter full production, painted bodies will continue to be sourced from Munich. Munich will concentrate on building fully electric vehicles and selected other models, with a daily output target of around 80 vehicles before transitioning to the new modular architecture.
