Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC; headquarters: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; ) announced that it has achieved carbon neutrality* at all its production sites in 2025, in line with its previously announced target. *Carbon neutrality refers to a state in which net greenhouse gas emissions, measured in CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e), are zero or less after reductions, removals, and offsetting measures are taken into account. The achievement covers domestic production operations within the defined reporting scope, including the Kawasaki Plant, Nakatsu Plant, Mitsubishi Fuso Bus Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (MFBM) in Toyama, and PABCO’s Sagami Plant, a wholly owned MFTBC subsidiary. MFTBC has steadily implemented measures to reduce CO₂ emissions across its production network. These efforts include the transition to renewable energy-based electricity at domestic production sites, the installation of on-site solar power generation systems, and various energy-efficiency initiatives in manufacturing processes.

As a result of these initiatives, MFTBC has significantly reduced emissions from its production operations while continuing to improve environmental performance across its facilities. These activities are further supported by internationally recognized management systems, including ISO 14001* for environmental management and ISO 50001* for energy management. Through these two management systems, MFTBC promotes continuous improvements in environmental performance, energy efficiency, and responsible resource utilization across production operations. * ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 are international management system standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). While ISO 14001 provides a broad framework for managing a company's overall environmental impact, ISO 50001 is a specialized standard dedicated strictly to improving energy performance and efficiency.

To achieve CO₂ neutrality during the 2025 calendar year and through the first quarter of 2026, MFTBC combined these emissions reduction measures with the procurement of carbon credits. Carbon neutrality is achieved on a balance sheet, meaning that remaining unavoidable CO₂e* emissions are compensated through certified carbon credits after efforts have been made to reduce emissions at source. *CO₂e (carbon dioxide equivalent), which expresses CO₂ and other greenhouse gases as an equivalent amount of CO₂ based on their global warming potential. Furthermore, from April 2026 onward, MFTBC will continue its efforts to maintain carbon neutrality through ongoing CO₂ emissions reduction activities.

MFTBC continues to contribute to a decarbonized society through both sustainable production practices and the development of zero-emission vehicles, while also advancing initiatives such as life-cycle assessments and sustainable material strategies, in line with its corporate vision of “contributing to a sustainable future for people and the planet.”
